COMBAT KICKBOXING

Combat Kickboxing is an open striking art that expands on the limitations of Kickboxing.  In Combat Kickboxing we open up our target areas and learn how to strike to different areas of the Flying Side Kickbody and leg.  We teach a more varied range of techniques, also learning how to strike effectively with the knees and how to work from a clinch position (close quarters, where you would be trying to hold and control your partner).  Elbow techniques are taught but not used in a sparring situation for safety reasons.  Combat Kickboxing at Attitude is a graded Martial Art - this means that it contains a complete belt system and syllabus by which to examine students.

Training is undertaken in a variety of ways from line-up and partner drills to bag, pad work and sparring.  Sparring rules vary however contact when sparring is relative to both experience and personal preference.  Sparring is only permitted with the appropriate safety equipment.  You will not be coming in to fight full-contact every night, if you were it is unlikely you will be fit to fight the next day!  Fighting is only part of the training; we need to concentrate on perfecting technique, drilling evasion and footwork, improving balance, co-ordination, reactions and timing with a big emphasis on physical fitness and conditioning.  The many aspects required to be an effective Martial Artist would take an age to list, that is why there is always room to improve and why we never get tired of trying to...

Combat Kickboxing classes are suitable for beginners to experienced martial artists.  Whatever your goal - be it to improve fitness, achieve a Black Belt, fight in the ring; the structure of our booking system allows us to plan our classes effectively to suit all of our students.  As with all of our martial arts classes the training is physically demanding, this is not the class for you if you are put off by a few aches and pains.

The main points:

  • You will learn to kick,punch, strike with knees and elbows both to pads and to people
  • You will spar but you are in control of the contact
  • Sparring is not a free-for-all brawl, it is a chance to test and improve the skills that you have been learning.
  • You will not be getting hit in the head on your first lesson!
  • Sparring will include clinching, be prepared to be occasionally wraggled!
  • The classes are physically challenging.
  • You will sweat and probably ache a lot, sometimes more than others.
  • Your fitness levels will improve
  • Martial Arts training is a very personal pursuit - through it you will learn a lot about yourself and your abilities.
  • You WILL have fun!
