JUNIOR COMBAT KICKBOXING & MIXED MARTIAL ARTS

Junior Combat Kickboxing and Mixed Martial Arts offers age appropriate training to students from 13years to 17 years of age.  The syllabus and class content is very similar to that taught to adults, however by narrowing our age range within this class we can ensure that students are learning at an appropriate level and training with students closer to their own size/strength.  Naturally this creates a much more productive and safe training environment than if our students were to study alongside adults (or younger children).

The two styles are taught alongside each other in one session.  It is students' choice which style they opt to both study and ultimately grade in.

Front KickJUNIOR COMBAT KICKBOXING

Combat Kickboxing is an open striking art that offers practical martial arts training coupled with a demanding fitness regime.  Students will learn to strike using a variety of punching, kicking, knee and elbow techniques to target areas on the head, body and leg.  Students will also learn how to work from upright holding positions, however no groundwork or wrestling techniques are included in this style.

Grappling PairJUNIOR MIXED MARTIAL ARTS

Junior MMA is an all range fighting art teaching how to strike, takedown, wrestle, pin and submit.  The striking is basic and workeable, the groundwork is very easy to understand and adapt.  Consequently new skills can be quickly developed and used without having to try and understand more advanced or difficult concepts straight away.  Submissions are taught within the Mixed Martial Arts syllabus however these are executed with communication and consideration; students work together to learn and improve.

Training is undertaken in a variety of ways from line-up and partner drills to bag, pad work and sparring.  The level of sparring is relative to size, age and experience.  Sparring is only permitted with the appropriate safety equipment.  As a parent reading this, you may have concerns about your son or daughter sparring with another student.  Sparring is an integral part of our Martial Arts study and training, it is the time when we get to put what we learn into practice and test our skills - it is not fighting and is always undertaken in the safest possible manner.  Fighting is only part of the training; we need to concentrate on perfecting technique, drilling evasion and footwork, improving balance, co-ordination, reactions and timing with a big emphasis on physical fitness and conditioning.  The many aspects required to be an effective Martial Artist would take an age to list, that is why there is always room to improve and why we never get tired of trying to...

Junior CK & MMA promote a complete belt system and syllabus by which to examine and grade students.  Both styles are sutiable for beginners to experienced Martial Artists.  They are not easy classes and can be physically very demanding; we train hard and achieve reslts, this is not the place to come is you do not like to sweat or are put of by aching muscles!

  • The main points:
  • You will learn to kick, punch, strike with knees and elbows both to pads and to people
  • If you chooose to study Mixed Martial arts, you will also learn how to take an opponent down to the ground, how to hold them there and how to apply submissions
  • If you choose to study Combat Kickboxing it is a striking-only style, there are no submissions or groundwork techniques involved.
  • You will spar but only with appropriate padding and safety equipment.
  • Sparring is not a free-for-all brawl, it is a chance to test and improve the skills that you have been learning.
  • You will not be getting hit in the head on your first lesson!
  • The classes are physically challenging
  • You will sweat and probably ache a lot, sometimes more than others.
  • Your fitness levels will improve
  • Martial Arts training is a very personal pursuit - through it you will learn a lot about yourself and your abilities.
  • You WILL have fun!
